Commitment Is Non-Negotiable

Making a decision is the first step, but commitment is what keeps you moving when the excitement wears off, and it WILL wear off.

Decisions are easy in the moment. Commitment shows up when the loan blows up, the agent bails, or the market shifts against you.

Commitment means you don’t leave your success up to convenience or mood:

  • Do you keep prospecting even when every call feels like a “no”?

  • Do you stick to your plan even when distractions fight for your attention?

  • Do you honor your non-negotiables even when no one is holding you accountable?

Without commitment, every challenge becomes an excuse. With commitment, every challenge becomes fuel to prove you’re serious about building the business you decided on.

THE High Performance Call

Why Ladder 9™ Matters: COMMITMENT

Most loan officers drift because they only stay disciplined when things are going well. The second it gets hard, they pull back. That’s not commitment and is more like conditional effort. Ladder 9 is about building a business with structure and consistency, and nothing reinforces that like non-negotiable commitment.

This week is about commitment because it transforms your decision into daily discipline. Without it, you’ll stall out before you ever build momentum. With it, you’ll weather setbacks, stay consistent, and keep climbing.

Ask yourself: Am I truly committed, or am I just motivated when things are easy?

Ladder 9 Checkpoint

✅ I’ve defined at least one non-negotiable habit tied to my business.
✅ I’ve shared my commitment with someone who will hold me accountable.
✅ I know what I’m willing to sacrifice to keep my commitment.

If you can’t check all three boxes, that’s your assignment this week.

Quick Win Tip

Write your #1 non-negotiable on a sticky note and put it on your desk. For example: “2 hours of prospecting daily.” Treat it like oxygen, treat it like it is a promise to the person you love the most in your life. It is not optional and not negotiable.

How to Prompt ChatGPT-5 (Correctly)

If you’ve noticed your ChatGPT-5 results slipping, it’s because the way you need to prompt has changed. Old techniques don’t cut it anymore. The model’s architecture now routes prompts differently and follows instructions with razor-sharp precision. That means vague or casual prompts won’t deliver the quality you expect.

Here’s the quick breakdown:

  1. Model Routing – GPT-5 uses an “invisible router” that decides which model responds. Simple prompts often get sent to a faster, less powerful model—so your output suffers.

  2. Precision Over Guesswork – The model no longer fills in the blanks for you. If your prompt isn’t structured, results will be flat.

So how do you fix it? Start with these five strategies:

  • Router Nudge Phrases: Add “Think hard about this” or “Think carefully” to push GPT-5 into deeper reasoning mode.

  • Verbosity Control: Use clear instructions like “Bottom line in 100 words or less” or “Comprehensive 600–800 words” to get exactly the length you want.

  • Prompt Optimizer: Leverage OpenAI’s built-in tool—or meta-prompt GPT-5 to optimize your own inputs.

  • XML Sandwich: Break your prompt into labeled sections like <TASK>, <MY_RESUME>, <JOB_DESCRIPTION> for crystal-clear structure.

  • Perfection Loop: Have GPT-5 grade and refine its own work until it reaches a “world-class” response.

The bottom line: if you want better answers, you need better prompts. Watch the full breakdown by Jeff Su here.

Here’s What You Missed Last Week:

Last Tuesday, Darren “DC” Copeland joined me on The Call, and he went step-by-step on how he runs his mornings to show loan officers how to create a million-dollar routine. It was a great call, and we loved seeing loan officers take to heart by implementing it in their business.

Tomorrow, Hammer Helmer joins me as we have the ULTIMATE AI DEBATE. Is it the future, or is it just another distraction?

Who is right? Who is Wrong? Let's find out!

I hope to see you on the call tomorrow, and until next week, Always Forward.
